Be an ambassador for nature appreciation, sports, and physical and social well being. FSU’s Bachelor of Science in Recreation and Parks Management is the only degree of its kind offered in the state of Maryland. Our nationally accredited program offers you the chance to pursue your parks and rec interests through specialized hands-on experiences under the guidance of skilled and expert faculty.

You can customize your area of interest into such careers as a park ranger, program staff at a resort, campus recreation staff, sports promotion specialist, camp director or an adventure sports specialist. It is also an excellent pathway to providing recreation programs in communities or senior living facilities that help young and old be active, creative, and pursue healthy lifestyles.

A common market program with Delaware, which allows students to enroll at in-state tuition rates rather than out of state rates. South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia are also eligible for academic common market based on concentration, primarily for our Adventure Sports and Sport Promotion and Communication concentrations.

Recreation and Parks Management Program Highlights

  • Choose from four concentrations to individualize your degree including Community Recreation, Adventure Sports, Hospitality and Tourism, Sport Promotion and Communication and diverse majors as psychology, leadership, sustainability studies and coaching.

  • Graduate from an accredited program by COAPRT with highly qualified and dedicated faculty that facilitate each student’s development through the degree program.

  • Prepare for the Certified Park and Recreation Professional exam.

  • Complete an internship which positions them within an agency of their choice to transition from the educational setting to professional settings.
